OUTSTANDING! 1936 Atlas 10 Mod D Lathe Forward Reverse Feed Gear Box Asmbly P654
OUTSTANDING and rare model D Forward Reverse Feed Gear Box Asmbly with Atlas label. No cracks, repairs, or surprises. Gears are sharp and the edges are unworn. Came from a lightly used but very old machine pass down from a father engineer to a son engineer. The son is 82 years old this year.
This came off a model D, and the only difference that I can see between the model D and the model F for this unit is that this has a beautiful label on the front, and on the model F, the handle is held on with a screw where as it is press fit on this D unit. But this will fit a model D made from the 1930s into WW II. Just insert the lead screw into the right side of this unit, it will slide in, reattach the banjo and the holding nuts and the lead screw bushing, and start turning. How to know if you have a model D or F? 1 an F has a 3/4 dia.Lead screw where as a D has a 5/8 lead screw. 2 F has a two-piece carriage (there will be a screw in each top front corner of the carriage saddle and the vertical part that the carriage feed handwheel shaft goes through is a separate piece from the saddle) where a D has a single cast apron and saddle. 3 power cross feed (there will be a pullout knob to the right of and slightly below the crossfeed crank) for a F.
