Garcia Mitchell 440 spinning reel, manufactured in France in 1966, serial number 5333205 engraved on the foot and printed on a white label stuck to the bottom of the box. Comes in blue and red card angle box with an extra spool in Mitchell container. The Mitchell 440 was launched in 1966, with just 7,016 units manufactured that year.

This reel has a low serial number for this model and was possibly part of one of the first production batches. Garcia Mitchell 440 engraved in small lettering on cover plate. Bail lock sticker on rotor. Torpedo handle, with h igh speed sticker on knuckle, and no screwdriver slot in counterweight. Two spools, large and small capacity.

The reel is fully functioning with a smooth retrieve and working anti-reverse. The bail spring is strong and flips over with a light finger dab. The box is solid, with shelf wear and a tear along one seam which has not been repaired (see pictures).

It has the yellow styrofoam insert and the hard to find printed Garcia Mitchell 440 display card. The extra spool is in a Mitchell plastic container with no cracks. The paperwork has been handled but is complete. This is an excellent condition, fully functioning, 55+ year old reel, in it's correct, complete box, with all paperwork, to fish with or add to a collection.
